Fall Newsletter 2008A Tale of Two Children2008-09-04
For our patients who are parents and live in Missouri, you are now affected by Senate Bill 16 which went into effect on July 1, 2008. This new law requires that all kindergarten and first grade children have a comprehensive eye examination before January 1st of the following year in order to stay enrolled in school. Why has the state decided to mandate eye examinations? About 80% of what we learn is through vision and vision disorders are the most prevalent handicapping condition of children. Studies have found that while 20% to 29% of children have some type of vision problem before entering kindergarten, 85% have not received any type of vision care.

The book covers different thinking techniques taught to student doctors and how they can become stuck in a thought process that could lead them, and their patients, down the wrong road. If you are looking for an interesting book to read this summer, I recommend it. If you are looking for ways to receive better health care by helping your doctor(s) think, I recommend these tips:
